The Core Cluster within the Mettle Gauge

The Core cluster within the Mettle Gauge contains those qualities fundamental to the success of any organisation or successful leader. These qualities allow an organisation or leader to hold true even in times of adversity. It is made up of six qualities:

  • Principled
  • Responsible
  • Purposeful
  • Composed
  • Open
  • Humble

The Core's role in Leadership

The development of these Core qualities provides the foundation for any leadership situation. The Core measures the extent to which leaders exhibit six essential qualities. These qualities measure characteristics that are associated more with how a leader is being—their beliefs and feeling which make up their mindset—than the activities carried out. The tactics for improving scores on the Core qualities tend more towards inner reflection than external action.

The Core's role in Organisations

In organisations with a strong Core, people consistently receive messages that it is important to do the right thing, take responsibility for their actions, stand behind their decisions, be composed and be truthful. A culture is the result of the behavioural norms established about how things are done; what is acceptable.
