integrated culture change
Culture determines the extent to which your people play at their full potential
We describe culture as the personality of an organisation created from messages that are received about how people are expected to behave or the ‘way we do things around here’. Some of these ways produce long-term desired results; some do not.
It is vital to understand and tackle everything that is irrational about what happens in your company—the gap between what looks right on paper and what actually happens—because this is the human dimension that will make or break your plans for success.
Detailed analysis helps organisations identify the strengths that account for their success, limitations on their effectiveness and what needs to change. Each year we conduct many pieces of research on company culture and use the results to advise executives on how to put in place the capability they need to execute their strategy.
Our experience and research shows that:
-
Culture determines the extent to which your people play at their full potential
-
Aligning culture to strategy is a key to success
-
The momentum generated by great leadership creates the platform for that success
-
Permanent change is achieved only when people change the way they think
-
Strategy works best when backed by congruent behaviour, symbols and systems
Six key levers shape a culture
We believe that there are six key levers that can be pulled to shape a culture. They are 'hard wiring' levers such as structure, systems and symbols; and 'soft wiring' levers including leadership, mindsets and the resulting behaviours.
It has been proven internationally and in companies of all sizes that those with a well defined, articulated and embraced culture will outperform competitors that do not have a clear focus. They will outperform in the critical areas of employee engagement, retention and attraction of new talent, achievement of strategic goals and, importantly, profitability and shareholder value. >> read more
Return on investment
We recognise that any investment must provide a return to owners, shareholders, customers, employees, suppliers and the larger community. To this end, all that we do at Mettle is measurable and based upon return on investment.
